The titular figure behind the recent popular memoir Confession of a Buddhist Atheist, Stephen Batchelor has had a diverse and fascinating history as a contributor to the development of Buddhism in the modern world. It went right on top of my pile of bedside books. I just finished Stephen Batchelor's "Confession of a Buddhist Atheist" and am impressed by his writing style. Stephen Batchelor wrote “Confessions of a Buddhist Atheist” in which he says, frankly, he's dumped a good bit of Buddhist doctrine, too, including rebirth/reincarnation. Stephen Batchelor's Confessions of a Buddhist Atheist came out in 2010. I figure it saves trees, and if I really love the book, I'll buy the hard copy. May have to crank up the snow blower. I have been reading an article in The Guardian, The new Buddhist atheism, by Mark Vernon, discussing the publication of a new book, Confession of a Buddhist atheist, by Buddhist practitioner and scholar Stephen Batchelor.
